The Icelandic labour market in November 2023

The Directorate of Labour will pay the December supplement to job seekers on Friday, December 8th. 

On the 27th of November, the parliament approved a bill from The Minister of Social Affair and Labour of temporary support for the payment of wages due to the natural disaster in Grindavík. The Directorate of Labour is responsible for the implementation of the Act. The aim of the Act is to guarantee peoples’ income who are not able to perform their work due to the natural disaster in Grindavík by ensuring payment of wages to the person up to a certain maximum amount. The aim is also to maintain the employment relationships between employers and employees.

An announcement from The Directorate of Labour in light of the current uncertainty due to the situation in Grindavík:

Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, has signed a regulation regarding the payment of the December bonus to job seekers. The undiminished December bonus is 99.389 kr. Job seekers with dependent children receive a special December bonus for each child younger than 18 years of age.

15 Березня були прийняті зміни до Закону про право на працевлаштування іноземних громадян № 97/2002. Зміни були внесені до положень статей Закону під номером 11, 12 і 22, які передбачають, що власники дозволів на проживання на підставі гуманітарного захисту, а також на підставі особливого зв'язку з країною, відтепер будуть звільнені від вимоги додатково отримувати тимчасовий дозвіл на роботу. Окрім того, власники даного типу дозволів на проживання мають право отримувати виплати по безробіттю, за умови виконання відповідних вимог.
