The labour market in January 2019

Registered unemployment was 3,0% in January 2019 or up from 2,7% in December 2018 and up from 2,4% in January 2018.  There were in average 5.402 unemployed in January 2018 or up with 556 from December 2018.

 Unemployment by gender:
The unemployment by men was 2,9% in January 2019, or up from 2,6% in December 2018.  The unemployment by women was 3,1% in January 2019 or up from 2,8% in December 2018.

 The unemployment by young people:
There were 761 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in January 2019 or up from 606 in December 2018.

The long term unemployed:
There were 1.081 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in January 2019, or up from 977 in December 2018.

Open vacancies:
There were 92 new incoming open vacancies in January 2019 or up from 47 new incoming open vacancies in December 2018.

Foreign workers:
There were in total 185 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in January 2019 but 81 in December 2018.  There were 14 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in January 2019.  These foreign service companies employed 72 workers in January 2019.

There were 24 Temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in January 2019.

These Temporary-work agencies hired out 1.398 workers in January 2019.

The unemployment forecast for February 2019:
It is expected that the unemployment in February 2019 will increase a bit and be between 2,9% and 3,2%.
