Confirmation of employment period

Instructions for completing the Confirmation of Employment.  

Employers can now fill out a Confirmation of Employment (formerly Employer’s certificate) electronically via My pages for employers.  

The employer can enter My pages through the Directorate’s of Labour website, logging in with Icekey or Electronic ID.   

Information regarding employment period and employment ratio  

Employees’ right to unemployment benefits is based on the period of employment and employment ratio for up to 12 months in the previous 36 months before the first date of registered unemployment.  

Therefore, up to 12 months of employment must be registered in the confirmation in the last 36 months before the first registered date of employment and is to be registered separately according to employment ratio and/or interruption of employment periods, if any.  

The right of students who have completed their studies to unemployment benefits is based on the 12 months the applicant worked in the domestic labour market in the last 84 months.  

Vacations are to be included in the employment period. 

Information regarding termination of work

Seven options are provided on the form. The employer can also write a more detailed reason regarding the termination if additional explanations are required.  

If the employee has unused vacation days, the number of unused days must be stipulated. 

If the employee received severance pay, the amount and / or the number of months they received payment for, must be stipulated.  

Information regarding payments to labour unions and pension funds.  

Information regarding to which trade union the employee paid membership fees must be stipulated, as well as information regarding their pension fund and supplementary pension fund where appropriate.  

Please note that all confirmations of employment periods are verified by the tax authorities.
