EURES - European Recruitment service
EURES (European Employment Services) is a co-operation platform for public employment between countries in the European Economic Area and operates in 31 European countries. EURES was created in 1994 by the European Commission, which oversees its activities. The aim of EURES is to promote the mobility of workers between countries and to respond to local fluctuations in the labour market. About 900 EURES consultants are employed in Europe and share information on EURES activities. A dynamic portal is maintained that provides information on everything related to EURES activities in Europe and in addition, most countries maintain their own websites In Iceland, information can be found on the website by visiting the EURES portal, which is available in 26 languages, including Icelandic.
Both websites provide information regarding job offers abroad and advice for jobseekers who want to enter the foreign labour market. The EURES portal provides information regarding working and living conditions and the labour market situation in each country, as well as information on all EURES events in Europe. You can also find information regarding EURES consultants working in each country and have an online chat with consultants in certain countries.
