Maternity/paternity grant - payments
A maternity/paternity grant is paid from the treasury and payments are handled by The Maternity/Paternity Leave Fund.
Application for payments
A parent shall apply for payments to The Directorate of Labour three weeks before the expected date of birth, primary adoption or permanent foster care.
Payment amounts
The duration of a maternity/paternity grant is determined by the year of birth, primary adoption or permanent foster care.
When are payments made?
Payments are made retroactively, for the preceding month.
Example: A parent who starts receiving maternity/paternity grant on January 1st will be paid on the last working day of that month.
