Parents who plan to use their entitlement to parental leave shall inform their employer as soon as possible or at least 6 weeks prior to the planned start date of the leave.
Parental leave - notification
- An employee is entitled to a parental leave after having worked continuously for 6 months for the same employer. The same applies to employees whether they have been employed temporarily or indefinitely.
- Employees who plan to use their entitlement to a parental leave shall inform their employer as soon as possible or a least 6 weeks prior to the planned start date of the leave. The notification must be signed by an employee and an employer, and the employer shall submit a copy of it to the employee and The Maternity/Paternity Leave Fund.
- The employer shall record the parental leave so that an employee can obtain a certificate for the number of days taken for parental leave if they wish.
