Registered unemployment was 2,3% in December 2016 or up from 2,1% í November 2016, but down from 2,8% in December 2015.
There were in average 3.919 unemployed in December 2016 or up with 336 from November 2016.
Unemployment by gender:
The unemployment by men was 2,0% in December 2016, or up from 1,8% in November 2016. The unemployment by women was 2,7% in December 2016 or up from 2,5% in November 2016.
The unemployment by young people:
There were 570 young aged 18-24 years unemployed in December 2016 or up from 470 in November 2016 but down from 696 in December 2015.
The long term unemployed:
There were 905 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in December 2016 or down from 917 in November 2016.
Open vacancies:
There were 156 open vacancies in December 2016 or down from 257 in November 2016 and down from 186 in December 2015.
Work permits:
There were 25 new work permits issued in December 2016 or down with 18 new work permits from November 2016.
The unemployment forecast for January 2017:
Due to seamen´s strike It is expected that the unemployment rate will increase in January 2017 and will be between 2,7% and 3,1%.
