The labour market in August 2019
Registered unemployment was 3,5% in August 2019 and increased from 3,4% in July 2019 and up from 2,3% in August 2018. There were in average 6.748 unemployed in August 2019 or down with 83 from July 2019.
Unemployment by gender:
The unemployment by men and women was unchanged from previous month and was 3,3% in August 2019 for men and 3,7% for women in August 2019.
The unemployment by young people:
There were 772 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in August 2019 or down from 802 in July 2019.
The long term unemployed:
There were 1.379 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in August 2019, or up from 1.291 in July 2019.
Open vacancies:
There were 119 new incoming open vacancies in August 2019 or down from 133 new incoming open vacancies in July 2019.
Foreign workers:
There were in total 212 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in August 2019 or down from 241 in July 2019. There were 37 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in August 2019. These foreign service companies employed 230 workers in August 2019.
There were 24 Temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in August 2019.
These Temporary-work agencies hired out 978 workers in August 2019.
The unemployment forecast for September 2019:
It is expected that the unemployment in September 2019 will be similar as in August and be between 3,4% and 3,6%.
