The labour market in October 2019

Registered unemployment was 3,8% in October 2019 and increased from 3,5% in September and up from 2,4% in October 2018. There were in average 7.039 unemployed in October 2019 or up with 476 from September 2019.

Unemployment by gender:

The unemployment by men increased in October with 0,4 percent point from September and by 0,3 percent point for women and was 3,8% for men and 3,9% for women in October 2019.

The unemployment by young people:

There were 920 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in October 2019 or up from 787 in September 2019.

The long term unemployed:

There were 1.466 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in October 2019, or up from 1.389 in September 2019.

Open vacancies:

There were 109 new incoming open vacancies in October 2019 or up from 100 new incoming open vacancies in September 2019.

Foreign workers:

There were in total 206 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in October 2019 or down from 226 in September 2019. There were 44 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in October 2019. These foreign service companies employed 294 workers in October 2019.

There were 24 temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in October 2019.

These temporary-work agencies hired out 970 workers in October 2019.

The unemployment forecast for November 2019:

It is expected that the unemployment in November 2019 will increase and be between 3,9% and 4,1%.
