Registered unemployment was 4,3% in December 2019 and increased from 4,1% in November and up from 2,7% in December 2018. There were in average 8.019 unemployed in December 2019 or up with 402 from November 2019.
Unemployment by gender:
The unemployment by men increased in December with 0,2 percent point from November and by 0,1 percent point for women and was 4,4% for men and 4,2% for women in December 2019.
The unemployment by young people:
There were 1.010 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in December 2019 or up from 1.006 in November 2019.
The long term unemployed:
There were 1.648 long term unemployed (over 1 year) in December 2019, or up from 1.540 in November 2019.
Open vacancies:
There were 68 new incoming open vacancies in December 2019 or up from 65 new incoming open vacancies in November 2019.
Foreign workers:
There were in total 93 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in December 2019 or down from 170 in November 2019. There were 35 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in December 2019. These foreign service companies employed 163 workers in December 2019.
There were 20 temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in December 2019.
These temporary-work agencies hired out 784 workers in December 2019.

It is expected that the unemployment in January 2020 will increase and be between 4,4% and 4,7%.
