December bonus for job seekers
Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, has signed a regulation regarding the payment of December bonus to job seekers. The undiminished December bonus is 94.119 kr. Job seekers with dependent children receive a special December bonus for each child younger than 18 years of age.
Those who confirm job search during the period of November 20th and December 3rd, and have been fully insured in the unemployment insurance system for 10 months or longer in the year 2022 are entitled to full December bonus. The payment of December bonus to those who do not have full benefit entitlement in the unemployment insurance system is calculated in proportion to their entitlement to unemployment benefits in 2022 and the number of months they have been paid unemployment benefits. The bonus will not be less than 23.530 kr.
The bonus for a child or children will be undiminished and will amount to six percent of undiminished December bonus, or 5.647 kr. for each child.
The Directorate of Labour will pay December bonus to job seekers by no later than December 15th.
