The unemployment rate in January was 3,7% for men or up from 3,4% in December 2022 and 3,6% for women in January or up from 3,4% in December 2022.
The unemployment by young people:
There were 677 young, aged 18-24 years unemployed in January 2023 or up with 70 from December 2022.
Foreign workers:
There were 333 work permits (all types of work permits) issued in January 2023 or up from 303 in December 2022. There were 34 foreign service companies registered to Directorate of Labour in January 2023. These foreign service companies employed 207 workers in January 2023.
There were 18 temporary-work agencies registered to Directorate of Labour in January 2023.
These temporary-work agencies hired out 434 workers in January 2023.
The unemployment forecast for February 2023:
It is expected that the unemployment in February 2023 will be similar to January i.e. between 3,5% and 3,7%.
