Surveillance 

One of The Directorate of Labour’s tasks  is to stand guard over the Icelandic welfare system and to protect it from misuse. 

The objective of surveillance of the unemployment insurance system is to ensure as well as possible, that only those who fulfill the conditions of the unemployment insurance legislation are paid unemployment benefits, and to prevent and eradicate misuse of unemployment benefits.
