In March 2011, an agreement was made to re-establish the Women’s Loan Guarantee Fund which was in operation from 1998-2003. The project is part of the government’s commitment to invigorate business and encourage innovation in Iceland. The fund ceased operations on the 31st of December 2014, but on the 9th of June 2015 a new agreement for the fund was signed which expired at the end of the year 2018.
It is funded by the Prime Minister’s Office, The Ministry of Industries and Innovation and The City of Reykjavík and the project will last for four years.
Svanni - The Women’s Loan Guarantee Fund grants loan guarantees to companies owned by women and provides loans in cooperation with Landsbanki. Only companies where a woman/women have a majority interest and majority rule can apply for a loan and a loan guarantee.
