CBT - A course in cognitive behavioural therapy, online (English)
The objective of the course is to increase people’s capacity to deal with negative feelings by using the methods of cognitive behavioural therapy in their daily lives and thus change thought and feelings and subsequently maintain their well-being.
The method is suitable for individuals who feel anxiety, sadness, stress or some other type of distress and want to find ways to improve their well-being.
Participants learn how to identify connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviour which control well-being. They learn how to find ways to break up the vicious cycle of distress and deal with these negative thoughts.
Teaching methods involve lecturing, discussions and working on projects in class as well as work without an instructor. Studying at home is important because students work on various projects which encourage them to acquire the methods of CBT. The course was developed in cooperation with psychologists at Reykjalundur and we use Reykjalundur's CBT handbook in the course.
