Holiday Opening Hours

The Directorate of Labour will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. From the 27th until the 30th of December, the service center in Reykjavík and Maternity/Paternity Leave Fund is open between 9:00 and 15:00.

One-time payment for the long-term unemployed paid out today.

Today, The Directorate of Labour pays a one-time grant to jobseekers who have been paid unemployment benefits consecutively for 14 months or longer on the 1st of May 2021. The grant can amount up to 100.000 kr. but income tax is deducted from the grant.

A webpage intended to provide information regarding COVID-19 vaccinations is now available at the covid.is website. The site contains information regarding registering to receive an invitation to be vaccinated, and how the invitations are delivered to and received by the recipient.
