Better Finance – Household Finances in Simple Terms – 16. - 26. september

The aim of the course is to help you figure out how to manage money better, so that you can make better decisions about what works best based on your financial goals, better manage where your money goes and thus enjoy it as much as possible. At the end of the course, you will have access to enough knowledge to set goals and manage your finances safely to meet those goals. You leave the course with more understanding of money and the financial products available in the market, what are their pros and cons and, last but not least, what costs are associated with financial services. During the course you will gain knowledge that will be useful for you in the future to maintain good money management.

Microsoft Word, Excel og Outlook – M365 – 1. - 3. October

This course will cover the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook M365. You get to know the main components of these three programs and the features they contain. Be able to see what options are available and be able to choose between them. Navigate and know where the main settings are to find and learn the main concepts and be able to make the most of them

Healthy life style – 1. - 4. October

During this course, the participants will be guided to prepare a toolbox in order to implement good and healthy changes in life. How to use the tools in order to achieve and maintain the best results. It will be reviewed how a participant can place themselves in 1st place, among other things, by analyzing the balls that the person is holding in the air and thus achieve even greater clarity. How to prepare a realistic action plan with the goal of increasing exercise, healthy eating and positivity in life.

Technical Literacy and Computer Skills 7. - 25. October

“Technical Literacy and Computer Skills: A Modern Work Environment” is intended to reach those individuals within adult education who are likely to stay behind in the labour market due to technological advances in the job market.

The study is intended to be accessible and adapted to various activities, industries, and situations in the business world. In addition, the program attempts to prepare participants for unforeseen technological changes and advancements.

Food Safety and Quality 14. - 31. October

A course for those who work with or intend to work with processing food, whether in canteens, restaurants, or food processing.
Subjects:
Food microbiology.
Internal control, HACCP/GAMES.
Product knowledge and food categories.
Increasing healthiness of meals and prepared food.
Shelf life, sensory assessment, product knowledge.
Allergies and intolerances.
Cleaning and disinfection.

Icelandic courses

Icelandic level 1-5 based on the curriculum Icelandic for foreigners that is published by the Ministry of Education. 

The courses emphasizes on understanding and speaking as well as writing, listening and reading. In addition, grammar is integrated into the curriculum based on the group's capabilities.

There are two Icelandic courses per year per person

Icelandic and the labour market – 9. – 27. sept

The course is designed for beginners in learning Icelandic with an emphasis on vocabulary related to Icelandic labour market. The students will acquire skills in working according to the work procedures and follow the process, work rules and ethics of workplaces. The course will also focus on self-empowerment and communication in everyday life and work, and practical information regarding the labour market.

Kindergarten employee preparation study 1. Okt – 22. nóv

Do you want to work with children in kindergarten but don't have enough skills in Icelandic - part 1 of 2

The second part starts in late November 2024, a Professional course for kindergarten employees plus Icelandic studies

All participants will be invited to an interview

For whom

The program is intended for those who want to work in a kindergarten but require more skills using the Icelandic language. 

As all kindergarten staff, students must show a criminal record certificate from their home country.

Goals

  • Empower participants to use the Icelandic language while working with children
  • Increase competency to work professionally with children
  • Participate in various workshops focusing on practical learning
  • Practice during vocational training in kindergarten

Job search seminar – evenly all through the winter

In the job search seminar, a study and career counselor reviews the main aspects of an active and targeted job search. Participants get the opportunity to look at themselves and the experiences they have, where each person's skills and personal strengths are mapped. The participants then set realistic goals, where each one examines where they want to go and what the first steps would be. Afterwards, everyone makes a CV and a cover letter, thus providing information about skills and knowledge.
